PrimeBase Technologies announces Sun/MySQL Platinum Level Partnership

Hamburg, Germany -- 8 April 2008 - Open source company PrimeBase Technologies announced a Platinum Level Partnership with Sun/MySQL at the MySQL Partners & Solutions Web Site (http://solutions.mysql.com) today.

This partnership recognizes the first PrimeBase Technologies product, the PrimeBase XT (PBXT) transactional storage engine for the MySQL database server. As the first pluggable storage engine for MySQL, PBXT is already an important part of the MySQL ecosystem. Interest in the PBXT storage engine has focussed on its high scalability, performance and ease-of-use. The foundation for this lies in its unique design, and the fact that the engine was created and developed exclusively for MySQL.

The key features of the PrimeBase XT storage engine include a "write-once", log-based update system which allows data to be written sequentially, supporting the key features of Solid State Drive (SSD) technology. Improved handling of media data including images, video, audio (e.g. MP3) and other binary large objects (BLOBs). multi-version concurrency control (MVCC) which permits reading without locking. Fully ACID (Atomic, Consistent, Isolated, Durable) compliant transactions and referential integrity via foreign key support.

"As a key milestone in our relationship with both the MySQL Community and MySQL, this partnership strengthens our commitment and involvement in working with the MySQL database server starting with PBXT and following with additional product developments." said Ronald Bradford, COO of PrimeBase Technologies.

PrimeBase Technologies will be presenting a session on the internals of the PBXT storage engine at the MySQL User Conference, 14. to 17. April in Santa Clara, California. In this session CTO Paul McCullagh will also reveal plans for the future development of this storage engine.
